Flying Legends Duxford 2006

After the 2005 airshow I went back again to Duxford. As usual, sunny but cloudy weather and thousands of visitors. The ticket prices went up again, skyrocketing to £ 30 per day! I was most impressed by the massive Spitfire and Mustang attacks. You can't beat the Merlin sound. The Balbo at the end of the day is not seen anywhere else.

Vehicle Meeting Santa Fe, Roermond NL 23. - 25.06.2006

A small Swiss military vehicle group visited this big dutch event. The vehicles were transported from Switzerland by a big low loader truck. These pictures were taken by my friend Kurt Wyss.

D-Day 2004, 60th Anniversary in Normandy, France

My second D-Day in France. I spent 10 fantastic days with my brother exploring all the little vehicles meetings and military museums. I was most impressed by the big vehicle parade in Carentan on June 6. Around 50 vehicles with their crews showed up: Sherman and Stuart tanks, Half Tracks, Dodges etc.

John Blackman is in my point of view one of the best photographers in the military vehicles area. His images have been published widely in books and magazines.

The Swiss Army sells its surplus vehicles every year in springtime. This year was the 50th anniversary. The weather has been always the same: foggy and rainy. Some odd 400 vehicles were sold, including rare oldtimers: White Halftrack (price around CHF 19'), Saurer 4MH (price around CHF 7') and M6 (price around CHF 11') and M8, Ward-La-France Heavy Wrecker, several GMC CCKWs, Magirus Deutz Uranus and the first Saurer 6DM (prototype) and a similar Steyr.
